Sick? Sinus Infection? Pain? Why Acupuncture May Work Better than Drugs.

It does for me!

My first experience with Acupuncture was about a year and a half ago.  I’d been under a lot of stress and I wasn’t taking great care of myself so I came down with a sinus infection.  After trying a few natural therapies like a Nettie pot, sleep, etc – I went to my MD.  I’d had a low grade fever for a week and nothing seemed to be working.

He gave me an antibiotic that I was to take for a week.  Which i did and still nothing.  I still had the low grade fever and the sinus pain.  I went back because I was feeling even worse.  He prescribed me a stronger antibiotic this time for 10 days.

It just didn’t seem right so I decided to give Acupuncture a try instead.  I went to Chester County Herbs & Acupuncture and saw Margaret Sheehan. (West Chester, PA)  She was friendly and knowledgeable, explaining what she was doing and how it all worked.

A few tiny painless needles in my sinuses and an hour later I was on my way home.  I was able to breathe, the pain was about gone, and I was really relaxed!  The next morning I took my temperature and my fever was gone!  Wow, I was surprised too!

I felt better in 24 hours – naturally!  I’ll take that any day over 2 weeks of antibiotics that kill all the bacteria even the good bacteria in my body!  (If you’ve already been on antibiotics and need to replace the ‘good’ bacteria look into a quality probiotic to do this!)

Are you unfamiliar and wondering what Acupuncture is?

Acupuncture
Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine sterile disposable needles into specific points on the body to improve energy, relieve stress, alleviate pain and improve function.

Oriental Medicine refers to the energy force running throughout the body as Qi (roughly pronounced Chee). Qi travels throughout the body along “Meridians” or special pathways. Energy constantly flows up and down these pathways. A person’s health is influenced by the flow of Qi in the body. If the flow of Qi is insufficient, unbalanced or interrupted, illness may occur. Acupuncture is used to restore balance to the Qi and to promote healing.

Acupuncture points are specific locations where the Meridians come to the surface of the skin, and are easily accessible by “needling,” Acupuncture needles are disposible. They are used once and disgarded in accordance with medical biohazard regulations and guidlines. Moxibustion and Acupressure are completely non-invasive treatments based on Meridian theory that are often used as complementary treatments to Acupuncture.

My treatments have alleviated sinus issues, pain (IE- knee, elbow, back etc), and much more!

Wouldn’t you rather feel better naturally without the side effects of antibiotics if they weren’t completely necessary?

Wouldn’t you rather boost your immune system naturally with Acupuncture?

Since then I always use Acupuncture as my first choice for treatment!  Check out Chester County Herbs & Acupuncture if you are in Pennsylvania or the surrounding area.  It is worth it!  You are worth it!

To Your Health,

Amy

Why Help Protect Our Children from Pedophiles before September 26, 2008?

Posted by apwood on September 16, 2008

Because your voice matters and it could save a child from being abused.

For those of you who don’t watch Oprah, her show yesterday was mind blowing.  I’m still nauseous and shocked.  I, as you probably do too, know that there are pedophiles preying on children.  I didn’t know how wide spread it was – probably because it isn’t talked about much.

Oprah prefaced the show by saying “What you are going to see is going to shock you to the core, but I’m asking you to please don’t turn away,” Oprah says, “because this is happening in our country to our children in the United States every day.”

Look at this picture of Oprah standing in front of a map where each red dot signifies a pedophile who is online viewing and committing crimes:

The map behind Oprah shows how quickly one pornographic image of a child being molested can spread. It starts with the large red dot from a computer in Washington, D.C. Within 24 hours, it has spread all across the United States—from coast to coast and north to south. “This is just an average day in America—24 hours,” Oprah says.

Now if this wasn’t bothersome enough to see how wide spread just the internet pedophiles are (keeping in mind that there are still plenty of people out there who don’t embrace technology) then the viewers heard “We’re seeing sexual abuse including oral penetration, vaginal, anal penetration,” says Michelle, another analyst. “We see children with dog collars on their necks. Kids with plastic bags over their heads. Foreign object insertion with these children.”

And they are filming this and sharing it with there network of sickos via the internet.

We also heard that these assaults are happening to younger and younger children because they can’t tell.

I couldn’t believe my ears but Yes – they are doing this to babies!

Still seared in my head from the show – they said that on videos you heard a baby giggle and gurgling and then it turns to a screaming cry because they are being hurt – I couldn’t hold back the tears.

I am appalled that in this day and age of technology that these filthy predators are able to commit these heinous crimes with technology but we are not stopping them?  Why?

I learned that –

The Internet can sometimes seem like the Wild West for child predators—a place that largely operates outside the law. While trading in pedophile pornography is illegal, lack of adequate funding means law enforcement officials are able to investigate just 2 percent of their leads. And, according to Interpol statistics, only one-half of 1 percent are ever prosecuted.

It is so angering that the US spends money on so many useless things and lack of money is why these scum can still hurt innocent children.

So what can we do to help these children and change this?

Help Pass Senate Bill 1738—The PROTECT Our Children Act
Oprah

Hundreds of thousands of children are victims of sexual abuse each year. Due to the sheer lack of resources, law enforcement is unable to follow up on the majority of leads they have.

The PROTECT Our Children Act will:

  • Authorize over $320 million over the next five years in desperately needed funding for law enforcement to investigate child exploitation.
  • Mandate that child rescue be a top priority for law enforcement receiving federal funding.
  • Allocate funds for high-tech computer software that can track down Internet predators.

Act Now!
Your U.S. senators will be voting on the bill soon, so it is crucial you contact them immediately.
Go to www.senate.gov to find contact information for the senators in your state. Search for your senator by name or state by clicking on the arrow from either dropdown menu. Contact information is provided here. To send an e-mail, click on “Web Form” below his or her name, and e-mail your letter to make a difference!

Call Your Senators
If you choose to contact your senators by phone, be sure to tell them, “Vote yes on Senate Bill 1738—The PROTECT Our Children Act.”

Write to Your Senators
If you choose to write a letter, fax, telegram or e-mail, you may use the following sample letter—and modify it how you see fit.

Dear Senator:

I know that you believe, like I do, that we must do everything possible to protect children from sexual predators. That is why I am asking for your help.

Last year alone, U.S. law enforcement identified over 300,000 criminals who were trafficking in movies and pictures of young children being raped and tortured. Experts say that one in every three of these criminals has local child victims. Child pornography trafficking over the Internet has given us a trail of evidence that leads straight to their doorsteps, but the vast majority of these children will never be rescued because investigators are overwhelmed, outnumbered and underfunded.

As your constituent, I urge you to do everything in your power to pass the PROTECT Our Children Act (S. 1738, Biden-Hatch). This bipartisan legislation passed the House 415-2, but it is now the victim of petty partisan politics.

Now that we know where these children are and how to protect them, there is no excuse for the Senate to fail to take action this session.

(Your name here)

Instructions for How to Copy and Paste the Letter
To copy and paste the letter into your senator’s web form at www.senate.gov, point your mouse arrow at the beginning of the text that you want to copy. Click your left mouse button and hold it down. Submit your form and help our children!

I already sent my letter to Senator Casey & Specter.  It only took 5 minutes.

Please do this little part for children!  It will only take you a few minutes – that are priceless in helping protect the future of our children.

Then send it on to everyone you know!

Why Is Drugging Children Legal?

Posted by apwood on June 19, 2008

This video is eye opening!

In the last few years, I’ve become aware of the over medication in general in this country with antibiotics and vaccines. Having worked with children with Autism and other childhood disorders, I also saw first hand the large amount of medications used to control’ their behaviors.

But this was new to me that abused and neglected children are NOT given the help that they need, but some drugs to numb them.

Weird. If they went out and used illegal drugs to numb themselves they would be arrested and incarcerated, BUT if the pharmaceutical companies do this to them – it is in their best interests.

Big pharma seems to have no end. Money and Greed are ruining our children’s future.

I found this video on my Dr. Mercola newsletter today – and had to share. I found the ‘previous pharmaceutical rep’ speaking at the end of the video to be so enlightening. She clearly states that the pharmaceutical companies motivation is money.

There are so many people working FOR children to help them, so how do we stop money and greed from destroying these efforts?

Why was the 3rd Week with Eckhart & Oprah-Just As Exciting to Me As The First?

Posted by apwood on March 18, 2008

mpj042259800001.jpg8:30 pm EST, it was time to take my seat at the 3rd weekly class by Oprah & Eckhart Tolle. Exhausted from a long day, I debated. Logging on, just in case so I was guaranteed a seat… The rush came over me while watching the clock count backwards. It was the same one I felt the first week… anticipation, wonder, and so much more. I can only describe it as a kid on Christmas morning at the moment before opening the presents, the awe, hoping for that special something.

Sounds corny, but that is how it feels to me.. even this 3rd week. I wanted to go to sleep and watch it tomorrow but the exhaustion lifted and now I’m more awake than I was an hour and a half ago. Since we are all energy, does all that collective positive energy make everyone coming to the class feel this?

I chose not to ‘take notes’ as i did the first week. Last week as well as this week it seemed to be a distraction. Just wanting to absorb what was being said was more important. There really is no way to completely ‘get it by reading a summarized account. I’ve finished the book and it had a profound impact on me. I’ve been rereading it because there is just so much that I’m amazed by and just want to keep absorbing. But I’m truly grateful for the class because it is really reinforcing the concepts.

Eckhart is truly talented at giving examples of issues and resolutions in an easy to understand way. I think a big problem with people ‘getting’ philosophical or spiritual content is the inability of the messenger to present it in a way that can be grasped by those who are not already enlightened. Even those of us who had glimpses of it but couldn’t wrap their head around it without those examples had problems expanding our understanding.

The concept of becoming aware of the ego seems so simplistic, it is so noticeable when Eckhart points out the attributes i.e. – anger, aggression, judgment, hostility, complaining, etc. Noticing it in glimpses is so different from living without being run by the ego. But Eckhart made me feel better when he explained the process. First you will notice afterwards -i.e. after yelling, you’ll come back a few minutes later and realize it. Then the awakening may happen in the middle of it. Then before you act on it. The ultimate goal being able to separate from the ego completely by not having the urge to act on it since you don’t relate to those actions anymore. Although still in the beginning stages some of the time, I am so much more aware and able to separate (even if it is afterwards or halfway through).

At the end I again felt relief when Eckhart said something like the ego isn’t the enemy, it is not threatening. I had been thinking that my ego was an enemy not a sad or confused child. It is much easier to be gentle to the later, which will ultimately bring about the change more quickly. Also that the ego had a purpose to make us realize that there is a consciousness. So the suffering has a purpose, it makes me look at it like ‘thanks for all that‘ instead of ‘why did I have to feel such pain?’

Eckhart gave a great example of a plumber that had come to his home. The man was hostile and gruff. Eckhart did not get offended or take it personally as he could see that this man was conditioned to be this way. Maybe he was always treated with anger since being a child. Not reacting to the man’s rudeness, Eckhart treated him kindly and patiently and almost better than one would a non-rude person. Eckhart explained that after about 20 min. the man was talking to him with a kind and gentle voice just as Eckhart was speaking to him with.

What a great example. It made me realize that most of my life has been spent reacting to the way people spoke to me or how a situation felt unfair to me and I was not happy with it. Covering sadness with anger, so not to appear weak (I equated sadness and tears with weakness) I looked at life through a negative aspect. Complaining, dissatisfaction, feeling things just weren’t fair was the norm. Still is sometimes but more quickly than I imagined, I’m beginning to see that as Eckhart explains that accepting and ‘making friends’ with the present moment is the best thing you can do. He says (without looking up his exact words I believe Oprah said this is on pg 78) that ‘what you resist persists.’

So being present and non-reactive to a situation will lesson the negative reaction resulting in a more positive outcome. Genius. It seems so simple when you hear it – and it probably is – when you make it your habit instead of what most of us have as our habits.

So just some of my ramblings…

My question since last week about labeling- Is the ‘not labeling’ stuff that Eckhart talks about (because it causes us to become disinterested) the reason that so many marriages fail? Is the word “marriage” the problem since it labels the two people and causes them to no longer be interested in the other.
